The development of this and the other mod belonging to this one will continue in a little while. I can currentlz onlz work a little bit on this and I'm using the time for research on weapons and getting the hang on animations.

This mod aims to create a different development branch focused on PVP rather then PVE by going back to the beginning and building it differently from the ground up. An "Alternate Universe" version of Ark if you will.

In its first instance it is meant for "The Island" as the spawners have been changed and it's meant to be a good old dino experience. I'm thinking about changing this already but not for the official dlc maps any time soon.

Especially important will be weapons (remove camera shake and dispersion and add recoil, change explosive damage etc), base upkeep and a taming system that immersivly limits tames and changes the role that tames play in the game.

As a first step core features are implemented to set the stage for a PVP gameplay that is a bit more challenging and a bit more forgiving at the same time while aiming at preserving the beauty of the game. It will be easier to get back up when wiped and mega tribes are not possible due to dino limits and base upkeep (see below), This should help performance too.

Features



Gameplay



- base upkeep (see below)

Taming



- Dinos have to be implanted to be tamed/controlled, equip Implant on slot 10 (think the movie with the big blue people)
- number tamable dinos dependent on character level, +1 every 5,10,25,50,85 level for tiny, small, medium, large, huge
- successful taming rewards XP for that species
- only increases when level after taming is higher then previous tames (want to master the Rex? still have to do one perfect tame)
- upon implanting species with XP for it leads to taming progress, instant taming possible, might have to consume one more food item atm

Structures



- Stockpile
- needs to be filled with thatch,wood, stone or metal to maintain the base. This idea was born before other games implemented it and that's a verifiable fact :P
- costs are total primary resource cost/200 per 30 minutes (4 stone foundations cost 4*80/200 stone/30 minutes) nsubject to balancing
- UI over multiuse wheel to see time till decay per resource

- Alchemy table
- can craft dino implants, tiny, small, medium, large, huge. Cost black pearls (might be a bit hard at the beginning so collect early, shells and trilobites give a bit more readily, trilobites spawn in bigger groups)
- UI over multiuse wheel to see taming related data (number tamed/tamable, XP), a bit basic atm.

A very basic mod (Workshop ID: 2427278344) that will eventually greatly simplify base part meshes and increase wall sizes to be able to house large storage boxes in a one wall room.

Weapons



Weapons are handled in a separate mod (WorkshopID: 2419397609). It is a WIP and adds projectiles, bullet drop, bullet trail and all sorts of other things to weapons to get them PVP ready.

Armor



Armor is handled in a separate mod (WorkshopID: 2433235424). It replaces all standard Armor sets, prevents breaking and auto unequip, increases durability and links the armor value to the durability. It's just a start.

Movement



- no movement speed levelling. This is absolutely essential for a solid and predictable PVP experience imo.

- Adjustments to jumping. Slight speed adjustment on jump so it feels less floaty. Added slight control on jump so it is possible to jump up then move a little bit.

- adjust speed on slopes relative to slope surface rather then the XY plane

Supply Crates



In the first instance quality is removed which makes the drops slightly boring. They will be made more interesting again upon testing. One oprtion is to remove engrams from higher tier equipment and make it accessible only via blueprints which gives incentive to raid and explore caves. Implants, Black pearls and farming equipment added to some drops.

Experimental



- upon death XP will be set to zero of the current level (should make getting further at high levels harder and keep you on your toes)

- no flyer taming for now but hear me out. Flying makes the map too small and messy when it comes to player interactions. It will be reintroduced in differently. Saddle engrams removed.

Berries and crops: The general idea is to have only certain plants give berries and seeds in certain areas to give more incentive to travel and make growing a necessity. The proper implementation will add plants in some areas with a map extension. For now thw following is a way that could be done easily to investigate this.

- dinos can't farm plants, one will have to grow them
- most plants only give fiber and seeds for basic plants
- mountain gives tintoberries and seeds and all four "advanced" seeds
- snow gives narco- and mejoberries and seeds and two "advanced" seeds
- swamp gives azul- and stimberries and seeds and the other two "advanced" seeds
- Experimental: plant species X gives large amounts of narco berries and seeds so no plant species for now

Planned



- remove Tek and just like flying bring it back further down the line in a different way. I see flying and tek as a nice resource for game mechanics but not a good base mechanic for this mod

- rework weapons, in progress

- scrap item quality (unfortunately), quality too prevents solid and predictable PVP in its current form. Supply drop loot needs to change for this

- rework armor, breaking armor is really annoying, will look into reducing it's effectiveness up to a fixed point rather then getting undressed this way

- this will be a big one so only if everything goes to plan. Change all base structures to a simple box- or near box mesh with clever materials and simplified snap points. I don't think it needs to be as complicated as it currently is. (Got it in theory but for materials I will need people)

- if all this works out one can go nuts trying out all sorts of crazy ideas but that's the future
