Map name: TheOctopus
This mod attempts to provide a lightweight map for a wide variety of events, that would otherwise be fairly hard to set up on the regular maps of your cluster and would take up valuable building space.
TheOctopus consists of 8 peninsulas, most of them connected to the mainland only by a tiny strip of land. The map only has jungle, swamp, grassland and ocean - biomes.

The EventHub (mainland)
When choosing this spawn region, the player will start on top of the highest towerruin in the middle of the map. From here the whole map can be overlooked. I intentionally didn\'t provide a normal way down from the tower since I have planned to use S+ teleporters for my players to get across the map. I recommend you do the same. (there is a tiny ledge a few meters underneath the top floor where you can put a tekgenerator to power that teleporter) Of course you can also use the tower as a launchpoint for parachute-, archeopterix- or wingsuit- competitions. Close to the base of the Eventhub tower you\'ll find a transmitter. (The tiny tekplate close to the transmitter is intended as a convenient spot to set up another teleporter.)
The PvP Arena (northwest corner of the map)
This part of the map is a swampy jungle and is intended to be used for small scaled short duration PvP - events. The PvP Arena is ripe with ressources (even the basic Abberation-ressources) and high quality loot spawns. There are many fairly hidden spots within the jungle and the beaches where you can set up a forge and smithy to craft some deadly shenanigans. Because the PvP Arena is intended to be used first and foremost for non dino combat the peninsula only provides three rideable dinos; Pachycephalos, Phiomias and Moschops\'. The PvP Arena is the only region of the map besides the Eventhub that has players spawns. The spawns are dispersed randomly at the beaches or close to them.
The TierpARK Speedway (north)
This part of the map is a racetrack which can be easily set up for different track layouts. Just use fence foundations and walls or even better S+ dynamic gates (tek) to block the parts of the track you don\'t need. For longer races there is also a course leading across the map through the eventhub and back to the TierpARK Speedway.
The Flyer Speedway (northeast corner of the map)
This peninsula has a tiny airfield and is the start - and endpoint for a flyer racetrack that goes across the map.
Fillvoid Island (east)
Fill the void! This peninsula has a relatively flat surface and only little vegetation. It is intended for anything that doesn\'t fit on one of the other peninsulas or the mainland.
The shooting range (southeast corner of the map)
The name says it all; this island is meant to be used for shooting competitions, mainly arrow shooting weapons. Use the plattforms on the hill for your players to shoot down on their targets. (explanatory screenshots will come soon)
The playground (south)
This peninsula has a beautiful plateau with an old ruin circle. The ideal place to set up smaller eventgames to create your own funfair.
Fish & Ships Island (southwest corner of the map)
*insert obligatory "Arrrrhhh" here... There must have once been a harbor that was home to a large fleet of ships here. The remaining ruins of the docks can be used to let your players build a fleet of rafts to fight it out with one another on the open seas. The three ponds in the middle of the peninsula can be used to spawn in fish for a fishing contest.
The OctopusArena (west)
This flat surfaced peninsula is meant as a place for a large arena or stadium. Plain and simple.

TheOctopus began as a low population - PvP -Map project back in 2016 but had been abandoned after the first few test session showed that the concept was flawed for the intended PvP use. Back then all the peninsulas that are protruding from the main landmass had roughly the same size wich also gave the map a somewhat symetrical appearence when viewed from above. For me these 8 peninsulas vagely resembled the tentacles of an Octopus - hence the maps name, which I kept for practical reasons and nostalgias sake.
This map is an ongoing project and will be subject to minor changes. However, it is my intention to keep the existing landmass as it is now. The only exception for that rule will be possible landbridge connection points (in the style of the existing narrow landbridges) if I decide to create additional landmasses. I will add a picture to the screenshots within the next few days that will show the parts of the ocean that might become subject to change in the future.
Patch 1.2 (I guess?) [08/14/2019]
- Fix for wrong texture of tekplates on top of eventhub tower and next to the transmitter
- Fix for typo in one of the biomes names
- Fix for floating smallrocks at the entrance to the PvPArena
- Removing leedsichtis spawns
- Fix for eurypterids swimming across the racetrack on the northern end of the TierpARK Speedway
- Tweaking various dino spawns
- Landmass texture corrections
- Addition of a few more trees and other foliage in the PvP Arena in particular I\'ve added "Element-Flowers" as you\'ll find them down in the red biome on aberration - Now you can easily gather organic polymer everywhere within the PvP - arena and craft ghilly stuff! :)
- Addition of silica pearls in the small ponds on Fish & Ships Island... It just looks nicer! ^^
