Proof of concept and standalone dino version of a much larger dino rework and rebalance mod I am working on.
This mod adds a standalone rework of everybody's favorite raging dino, the Giganotosaurus, making it far more balanced of a dino (especially in a PvE mindset) and much more usable as a whole. Ain't it great?
NOTE: As I said this is a standalone version of a much larger dino rework mod I am planning. When that mod comes out, delete this mod while also installing the larger dino mod to keep your gigas.
So this mod rebalances gigas starting from a simple premise: Scale it using rex.
I put a giga and rex next to each other in the kit and decided i'd simply scale rex's model by size until it was equal in size to Giga. When I did that, I would take rex's base health and melee and scale it accordingly.
Rex's default mesh size is 2.43. So I scaled it to a solid 3.0 as a reference, granting so far 0.53 growth. When I scaled to Giga, the model size was 4.0, so it gained a solid 1 unit of size growth.
1+0.57= 1.57
From that I took Rex's base health and melee and multiplied
HEALTH MATHEMATICS
1,100x1.57=1,727 (health needed to add)
1,100+1,727= 2,827 Base Health
MELEE DAMAGE MATHEMATICS
62x1.57= 97 (rounded. It's actually 97.3 something)
62+97= 159 (59 more than mosa, 21 less than alpha rex, and 41 less than default garbage giga)
BASE TOTAL:
2,827 Health
159 Damage
From there, later on, i changed the stats, which are now:
2400 Health
130 Damage
Other changes:
-Gigas are now actually quite fast, as the default giga, both tamed and wild, is actually fairly slow. I changed running multipliers from 0.58 from both tamed and wild to 1, meaning giga now haul some serious butt when running. Their stamina drain is still pretty considerable, but the stam regen is not as god awful
-ABSOLUTELY NO NERFS WHATSOEVER UPON TAME! After my math showed the stats were far more balanced than I thought, I decided to give no nerfs to the giga upon being tamed. Its stats scale similarly to rex, meaning it gets no health, stam, or melee penalties upon tame. It gets only better when tamed, no nerfs whatsoever.
-Giga can now move and roar at the same time.
-Gigas are still pretty scary now, but with this mod, even though it's much easier for them to run you down, it's also much easier for you to fight back!
-Gigas will spawn in: Mountain, Ragnarok Highlands, Monster Island, Dunes, Scorched Mountain, Wasteland, Forbidden Zone
NOTE: THIS MOD WILL NOT AUTO-REPLACE GIGAS: IT IS A SEPARATE CREATURE!
